Brazilian fest to screen Iranian ‘Angels Do Not Die’

Brazil’s Alter do Chão filmfest is to host Iran’s ‘Angels Do Not Die’.

Brazil’s Alter do Chão film festival has been set to host Iranian short flick ‘Angels Do Not Die’.

The 9-minute Iranian film, written, produced, and directed by Alireza Biglari, will go on screen at Mostra Paralela section of the Brazilian event in December 2020.

On his social media page, Biglari has dedicated the film to the first Iranian nurse who sacrificed her life to save others during the first weeks after the coronavirus outbreak in Iran.

He also dedicated his work to all hospital staff saving human lives around the world.

‘Angels Do Not Die’ - an attempt to appreciate the sacrifices of the medical staff and the healthcare workers - tells the story of a doctor who has contracted the coronavirus while helping those infected with the disease.

He goes home, but his soul is upset and depressed by what he has seen in the hospital and the ICU.

However, hope is revived with the encouragement of the world.

The short film was screened at "I Will Tell" International Film Festival in the UK, the Early Bird International Student Film Festival in Bulgaria, and the Berlin Flash Film Festival in Germany, where it won an award.

The Alter do Chão is a meeting place between cultures around audiovisual productions and other artistic manifestations of the Brazilian Amazon.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 edition of the Alter do Chão film festival will host the audiences online via the event’s website.

The 2020 edition of the Brazilian gala runs December 9-13.
